DAILY PICTURES
Kitchen progress!!! However, I need to make my mother in law a birthday cake for Saturday. Can one do Dorset apple cake in a microwave? On a barbecue?
Some phone snaps of what I’ve been photographing for real with the big camera. I’m toying with the idea of posting a ‘before’ sequence for the big kitchen renovation that starts MONDAY (yes, it has been two years since we started demolishing the old kitchen) but it’s too awful for words.
It’s cold but we’re doing it anyway. Supper in the field!
Moving into her new home! I’ve taken down the fence that separated the two courtyards and it means that we (and the dogs) can move easily between the two. It’s an incredible feeling. I love how Maud makes any space her own though. Never short of confidence.
The wild celebrations continue. No, not champagne and sledgehammers in the horrible kitchen, but a cheeky trip to Kelways in Langport. I *nearly* bought a tree peony for £70 but luckily, I am an old hand at hunting out the plant bargains so I got a whole trolley full for the same money. You know if it looks good together in the trolley, it’s going to look fabulous together in a bed.
We made it through the first night of sleeping in a big pile. No compromise on coffee though.
The sun is finally out. Ish. St winnow creek.
Paddock evening. Fire lit and aubergines roasted then baked in tomato with mozzarella… 🍷
Oh my goodness, I haven’t enjoyed a project this much for ages. The Sweet pea Sourcebook… I’d love to say coming soon but actually, I’m not hitting publish until every single variety has bloomed, been photographed and described, and I’ve got some seed from it. But a sneak peek here… 🌈
I’m writing a sweet pea source book for Gather. All the loveliest varieties. This is Juliet and she is looking utterly gorgeous. How are yours looking? They aren’t meant to like the heat but mine are looking fab so far.
Kitchen table chaos. There are lists everywhere. I cropped this one a bit because otherwise you could read ‘post on instagram consistently’ and it all felt a bit meta. In the philosophical sense obviously; I’m not intending to theme my life a la Mark Zuckerberg. Jude petals taking centre stage though. They still smell wonderful so they can stay another day.
Some days in the garden are glorious and rather glamorous. Some days I pull brambles out from around a crab apple tree.
One of my three peony patches has got overgrown. I’m not going to tidy it today though. Too many happy bees.
Current state of the kitchen table after a lovely session with @joannagame_flowers. Plotting and planning. Coffee and Camelot Creams. (You know I’d never put anything this authentic on my main profile, don’t you?)
